UCU PASSION initiative empowers young leaders

Urdaneta City University launched the PASSION initiative on June 10, 2025, aiming to empower student leaders through sustainability, innovation, and inclusive leadership training.

Titled "PASSION: Preparing Active Students for Sustainability, Innovation, and Outreach for Nations," the program gathered 150 student leaders, council members, and advisers at the university amphitheater for a half-day event.

Guided by the theme "Empowering Students as SDG Warriors," the initiative aligns with UCU’s mission to foster sustainability and innovation.

Dr. Josephine S. Lambinicio, Vice President of Academic Affairs, opened the program and emphasized the importance of punctuality, linking it to self-discipline and time management.

She ended her remarks by affirming confidence in the participants and stated, "The real essence of leadership is love, Leading always starts at loving your passion to serve."

Atty. Michael Henry C. Sevilleja, OIC Vice President for Administrative Affairs, also addressed the participants and underscored the value of time, sustainability, service, dedication, and faith.

Dr. Sonny S. Soriano, Director of External Affairs and Linkages, served as the keynote speaker and highlighted UCU’s recent inclusion in both local and international rankings.

The program supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 9 (Industry and Innovation), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The event marked the beginning of a movement led by young leaders committed to driving sustainable change.#
